Overview:

*Hybrid Role, based out of Fort Worth, TX.

The AVP General Ledger is responsible for the daily direction and development of departmental personnel, of general ledger reporting, coordination and heavy involvement in monthly closing activities, fluctuation analysis, activities related to various areas of the business which may include auto receivables, securitizations, charge offs, intercompany transactions, foreign currency transactions, equity transactions, leasing and commercial lending. The AVP General Ledger is also the point of contact for internal departments, external parties, and internal and external auditors.

Responsibilities:

JOB DUTIES

Direct the prioritization of activities within the department and allocate resources as needed (including journal entries, reconciliations and reporting)
Support internal management reporting, SEC reporting and quarterly/ year-end audits
Make recommendations and implement process and procedure improvements
Provide guidance on the operation of various general ledger systems and monitor and resolve system issues
Conduct and/or participate in meetings with different teams throughout the organization to develop an understanding of projects impacting the general ledger system or treasury management system and the associated impact to the department
Manage and develop team members by establishing annual performance goals and assessing annual performance
Complete special projects and participate in system testing as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Conform with all company policies and procedures
Qualifications:

Knowledge

Knowledge of Oracle reporting tools required (ie Discoverer)
Strong background with automated accounting systems
Understand how to develop and execute a test script and document findings
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Working knowledge of account reconciliations
Working knowledge of automated financial systems
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Access Database
Working knowledge of the Accounting Standards Codification
Working knowledge/understanding of financial statements

Skills

Ability to effectively lead, organize and supervise
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Ability to manage multiple projects
Advanced software applications (eg Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, internet, email)
Advanced skills in creating ad hoc queries and reporting
Detail oriented
Experience with financial reporting tools and database query tools
Good leadership skills
Perform analysis on monthly financial statements and also on complex transactions
Strong analytical skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required

Experience

3-5 years experience at a supervisory level required
5-7 years of relevant experience required

Licenses

CPA license (or equivalent experience) required

Working Conditions

Flexible schedule with possibility of working long hours including weekends/holidays, occasional overtime or split shifts may be required
Normal, fast-paced office environment
Strong focus on providing quality service to internal and external customers
Limited travel may be required to support business needs
Must be able to deal with stressful office conditions while troubleshooting problems
