Purpose of Role

Reporting to and working in partnership with the Global Chief Investment Officer (GCIO), the Director of Global Investment Operations (DGIO) will be responsible for the development and evolution of best-in-class investment practices within REI on behalf of CBRE Group's balance sheet. This role acts on behalf of the GCIO in his/her absence and supports the priorities of REI with focuses on advancing:

1) A clear capital allocation framework and

2) Investment strategy to maximize risk-adjusted returns. This individual is also responsible for driving operational excellence through the oversight and execution of consistent review of investments and investment committee processes.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the function will be as follows:

Long-Term Business Strategy (40%)
Establish platform-wide strategic investment objectives, priorities, and a scalable return framework with GCIO
Develop and continuously evolve aspirational architecture including parameters for investment and divestiture/wind-down
Drive transparency into the portfolio of the business including each investment strategy area with CFO/Finance. Support efforts to improve the real time and future project returns to CBRE Group across all business segments.
Identify opportunities to accelerate growth and enhance quality of returns and earnings.
Leverage research and analytics to conduct strategic studies, market segmentation, competitive analyses, and opportunity prioritization
Best-in-class "One REI" Investment Framework (Operational Excellence) (50%)
Create a clear and consistent process between TCC and IM that prioritizes growth opportunities "in-house"
Ensure capital allocation and rebalancing are appropriate and consistently applied in the context of an evolving product architecture in alignment with the goals of CBRE
Establish consistent investment return framework including hurdle rates, target returns, and underwriting assumptions
Sign off on relevant benchmarks and operational KPIs in recurring reporting to Corporate and within REI
Overall responsibility for development and implementation of a consistent best-in-class investment process and materials across all strategy areas
Standardize definition, measurement, and presentation of investment risk management including risk metrics in investment memos, portfolio reviews, performance analyses, stress testing, and other recurring reporting as needed
Partner with research and analytics to develop roadmap for data superiority, competitive analytics, and performance attribution
Management of Investment Committees (10%)

Develop and implement a consistent investment process, policies, and materials across all strategy areas within REI
Establish best practice templates and guidelines for investment memos, and underwriting activities
Ensure that all Investment Committee meetings are well-organized and follow standard protocols with clear agendas; timely issuance of papers and swift production of minutes

Attributes Required

Given the focus on process and investment related activities the preferred attributes for the role include:

Experienced investor with detailed knowledge of investment processes and how to assess investment risk
A keen attention to detail combined with an ability to identify key issues
Proven ability to lead and manage improvement projects and develop stakeholder relationships at all levels
Well-developed communication skills with an ability to present clearly and succinctly both in writing and verbally

Bachelors degree in related field, MBA preferred.

5-7 years of related experience.
